Skiing in Sweden

skiing-in-are This weekend I went downhill skiing in Åre, Sweden. It’s been more than 10 years since the last time I tried skiing, which was a total disaster and a very scary experience. It took me a while until I got over this first bad experience, but I finally gathered all my courage and tried to go down the babies’ slope. It was the easiest of the green slopes, the one that young kids choose to go down at amazingly high speeds, while I am standing there, terrified. I was braver this time and after falling a few times, I learned how to slow down and turn. Now I am hooked and considering to buy a seasonal pass for Trondheim’s ski center or at least give cross-country skiing a chance. What’s your experience with skiing?

ps. I am slowly working on that old bucked list of mine. Even items that I never thought I would cross are eventually crossed and it feels great! Maybe it’s time for an update!

  1. It’s been years and years since the last time I’ve skied. I think I was about 5 or 6… I sure would feel the same way that you did if I ever go back on top of a mountain. I’d probably be scared to death. But your experience shows that you have to face our fears, so congrats for that!

  2. I tried skiing when I used to live in the black forest. Not really my thing, I have to say. Maybe I am going to try Snowboarding at some point as that seems to be a lot different and maybe I like that more…

Keep us posted about your upcoming skiing experiences! 🙂
