Let me preface this post by saying that when it comes to fish dishes, I am a very difficult eater. I don’t like to taste the sea, I want something delicate, not overcooked or undercooked and it has to be really appetising for me to eat it. Few weeks ago I made another fish recipe from Jamie’s book that ended up in the trash, which I really hate to do. This time it was much better.
Jamie’s prawn cocktail is a healthy fresh salad with a hint of fish. The salad itself was full of green leaves and tomatoes, a nice healthy version of a thousand islands sauce and many shrimps. I loved every single drop of this sauce and now it’s my go to healthy thousand islands sauce. So good!
The bread that accompanied the dish ended up in the trash unfortunately. It just wasn’t good.I never thought that bread could be that bad, but it was. The dried tomatoes didn’t really work for me.
All in all, this was a very average dish. It could have been good in a much smaller portion, as a bite-sized appetizer. The shrimps were overpowering everything else and after a few bites I was ready to move on to the next dish, which apparently I hadn’t planned for. Will I make this again? No!
