There’s a very typical home style in Scandinavia with loads of white elements. From walls to drapes to furniture to frames to floors, white seems to be the way to go. I keep coming back to this style for quite some time now (maybe it has to do with the fact that I actually live in Scandinavia) and now I’m seriously thinking about painting the walls white and changing the decor. To be honest, this is quite scary for me. You’d think that this is an easy straight-forward style, but it’s one of the most tricky styles to do right. An all-white house can look too sterile if you don’t add some other elements that will make it cozy. To make it easier for me, I made a collage of my favorite Scandinavian rooms. Here’s what I figured would help me pull off this style.
- Neutral-toned, but textured objects, like a carpet or a wooden box, add interest and warmth.
- Black and greys are great when used in patterns.
- Flowers and plants add life to a sterile white room.
- Last but not least, consider showcasing your book collection. It’s both practical and pretty.
What do you think? Should I go for it?
