Jamie’s grilled steak

I love a good medium steak. It’s something I don’t treat myself to very often, but when I do, it makes me very happy.

I bought a sirloin steak for this dish (I had to read a bit about the different parts and learn a few new Norwegian words!). I cooked a medium and a well-done steak. I sheared both steaks in a pan and finished the well-done one in the oven. Cooking the perfect steak makes me nervous and very happy at the same time. When the steaks were ready I added some parsley and mustard. Yum!

Jamie serves the steak with a ratatouille and saffron rice. He suggests using a squash, an eggplant, two bell peppers and a red onion for the ratatouille. I took my time cooking the ratatouille in low heat, which is my secret for the perfect sauce. Some things need time and you can’t rush them. This is one of these things.

All in all I liked this dish. For some reason I prefer my steak served with oven-baked potatoes. So, will I make this again? Probably not! But I will make this steak when I feel like I want to treat myself.

What’s your all time favourite dish? A medium biff steak might be mine.

ps. I used the leftover ratatouille the next day to make chicken with homemade pasta in the oven. A Sunday classic in my house!
